Rain-x – Windshield Wiper Blade Review

Last Updated on May 3, 2020 by Ethan William

If you have noticed some permanent water spots settling on your windshield, then it might be an indicator that your current windshield wipers are underperforming and in need of a replacement. On the other hand, perhaps if your wiper blades have gone through a significant amount of wear and tear in a short amount of time, perhaps you need to change the brand altogether.

There are no doubt numerous options out there so how does one even get started to look for their perfect fit. Well, worry no more, because we might have just the thing for you. Say hello to one of our premium picks, that is, the Rain-X Windshield Wipers.

Most Rain-X wiper blades on the market as of now will range between twenty-one inches to twenty-six inches in length. This one is particular clocks in at about twenty-two inches and is pretty easy to install on any type of vehicle as long as you have the specs right.

As for durability and performance, the Rain-X wiper blades have very encouraging reviews, ranging in the four out of five stars for most of the aforementioned criteria. They also operate quite smoothly and make minimal noise while being used.

The Rain-X stands out most owing to the dual functionality of the blades as they act as both wipers and water repellers. You don’t have to worry about wind lift and similar problems as the wiper contorts quite well to your windshield.

Besides, the synthetic rubber blend that makes up the structure of the wiper allows for a quick wipe without any drag across the windshield as it moves, and without any noise at that. At the end of any drive, you will be pleased to find the windshield completely streak-free and without any marks or scratches.

The water repellent coating will last you months and months on end and can withstand any type of weather conditions such as extreme heat, heavy rain, and even ice.

By now, some of you may be wondering how the installation works. Well, we have some great news on this front, because it uses a universal adapter, patented of course, so it can fit with pretty much any vehicle.

Now let’s keep it real, there have been a few complaints regarding the performance of the Rain-X wiper blades so here a few tips that you can use to make the most out of your wiper blades. These are catered more towards the water-repelling functionality of the wipers.

For starters, you want to make sure that you are working with a clean and clear windshield. Before you install the wiper blades, ensure that the plastic covering on top of the blades is intact. Keep this covering on until after you install and remove it just before you take the car out for the first time after installing the new wipers.

This is a great practice for letting the new wiper blades settle on top of your windshield and get used to the shape of the windshield. Then, for the first usage, take a few minutes and have the wiper blades run on the dry windshield for some time, a couple of minutes should do the trick.

Once this is done, you can splash some water on top of the windshield as well. This step will help activate the water-repelling action. If you want to skip these few steps, the feature will still be activated. However, it might take a bit longer than usual.

The bottom line is that you can skip it but it does bode well for your wipers if you let them wear in a bit before taking them out on the road directly. This way, if you have been supplied with a faulty unit or there is some problem with the installation, you can spot that beforehand and fix the problem.

Otherwise, the situation can become hazardous pretty quickly so we would recommend that you do not take any risks when it comes to this. Other than that, rain or shine, these wiper blades will hold up great under all the elements.

So, you can simply install them and forget about any other hassle as you’re cruising down the highway on your next road trip!
